It looks like after the Facebook IPO, Facebook has taken a hard look into generating revenue for the social network. They need to keep a steady flow of money and please share holders now that they will be a public company. Part of the IPO was that Facebook doesn’t post advertisements on the mobile platform. In order to grow, it was inevitable that ads may have made their way to the mobile site. However, it won’t be in the traditional sense.
Looking for a web-based equivalent of a divining rod to find out where the customers are? While the hard work of converting prospects into paying consumers rests with the business, Facebook has stepped up to the challenge of connecting business page owners with not only their base customers but with those Friends of customers who show interest in your business.
‘Shoppin as they call it, or Photoshopping is all the rage these days. Manipulating images has become so easy with so many different free and paid programs. People have become so skilled at using Photoshop to alter images, it’s almost impossible to tell explicitly if an image has been altered or not. For example, look at how skilled this person is.
Jonah Hill and Sam Worthington do guest spots on the new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 advertisement on the plight of a n00b (new) user and a vet. It’s just plain awesome, you gotta see it.
I don’t mind online ads too much, they don’t bother me. For some though, they don’t like to see “lose weight with these pills” or “find your soul mate here!”. I guess they get offended. If you are one of those people, here is a simple illustration of how to solve your problems without taking any medication. Good luck!
This should probably come to no surprise to anyone. As anticipated today, Justin Timberlake held his private reception with top advertisers and brands with the new owners of Myspace, Specific Media on the new plans for Myspace. “MySpace is the future of social” said Timberlake. As Myspace gets back to social, it will also be getting back to it’s roots with Myspace Music.
In the first half of 2011, Internet Ad Revenue is at $14,941 billion and up 23% from last year. Just think about that for a second. That is a gigantic sum of money poured into online ads. Each year it keeps going up too.
Shortly after Myspace was sold in June for close to $35 million to Specific Media two things were said: First was that Justin Timberlake would pretty much be the new outward facing public figure for Myspace and would help lead Myspace in a new direction with the spin off of Myspace Music and second was that the new owners would make an official statement of what they plan on doing with Myspace sometime in late summer. This second part has yet to happen.
Each year Kent State University holds a folk festival to celebrate folk and heritage music through concerts, workshops and education programs. This year is the 44th annual folk festival which started today Nov17 and goes thru Nov20.
Part of the ad campaign by Kent State is an anti-social [networking] print campaign. The print ads are very well made and ring true to many people. Although we all the love the web and our social networks and addictions, “clapping your hands when you like a band” is “way better than clicking some like button”. The print ads are catchy and tastefully done. I hope they drive a lot of people from their computers to their annual festival. Check out the print ads after the jump.
