FBI shuts down MegaUpload file sharing service
Wow, on the heels of the SOPA protest which is heavily related to online piracy, today come to find out the FBI has just shut down the major file sharing service MegaUpload. Seven people from the online service have been charged by the FBI, and as of this writing, the entire website is offline.
Apparently, the FBI has been investigating them for two years now. According to the WSJ, the charges filed today include conspiracy to commit racketeering and criminal copyright infringement.
Now I will let you all in on a little secret. There is another big file sharing website called Bitshare.com, with NO relation to this blog - whatsoever - let’s get that clear. The secret is, that Bitshare.com contacted me in the past and offered to buy out my blog, and make it part of their website. All under the name Bitshare, since our names are the same. I am also NOT saying they are pirating music or movies at all, in any way. But after reading about MegaUpload, I am kind of glad I never accepted their offer!
